Stephani’s Senior Day goal lifts CSB Soccer to 1-0 win over Concordia

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Senior Addison Stephani delivered the game-winning goal on Senior Day as the College of Saint Benedict soccer team earned a 1-0 victory over Concordia College in MIAC action on Saturday, Oct. 25, at CSB Turf Field.

Stephani's strike in the 83rd minute, assisted by Summer Seamans, gave the Bennies their fourth home win of the season and kept their MIAC Playoff hopes alive. CSB is now 6-11-0 on the season with a 4-6-0 mark in MIAC play.

In a special ceremony after the game, CSB honored seniors Stephani, Grace Fitzgibbons, Regan Melz, and Mary Blaska for their commitment and leadership within the program. With one regular-season game remaining—Nov. 1 at Hamline in St. Paul—the Bennies sit eighth in the MIAC standings with 12 points, just two shy of the final playoff spot.

In this key win for the Bennies, the seniors all played a key role with Blaska and Melz playing 90 minutes and Fitzgibbons, who had a shot on goal, on the field 81 minutes. Overall, the game turned into a defensive battle. Junior goalkeeper Rhianna Anya recorded her second shutout of the season for CSB, stopping seven shots, while Concordia's Julia Roask made six saves in a strong effort for the Cobbers.

CSB held a 19-10 advantage in total shots, including 14-4 in the second half. Stephani, who played 58 minutes, led the attack with 10 shots, four of which were on target, while eight other Bennies contributed to the offensive effort. Both teams finished with five corner kicks.
