ST. PAUL, Minn. – For the second consecutive MIAC match, the College of Saint Benedict soccer team (3-1-3, 0-0-2 MIAC) played to a draw, tying Hamline 0-0 in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) action.
This result marks CSB's third straight tie, following a 1-1 draw against Wartburg on Sept. 14 in Waverly, Iowa, and a 0-0 tie with Macalester on Wednesday. The Bennies now sit at 3-1-3 overall and 0-0-2 in MIAC play. Next, they travel to Decorah, Iowa, for a nonconference matchup against Luther College on Sunday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m.
Both teams had multiple scoring opportunities during the match. The Bennies registered 13 shots, six of which were on target, while Hamline recorded nine shots with four on goal. CSB senior goalkeeper
Annie Waters earned her third shutout of the season, and her second in a row, with four saves. Waters has tallied 10 saves in MIAC play, having played all 180 minutes in the two conference games.
CSB dominated corner kicks with a 9-1 advantage, including a 6-1 margin in the second half. The Bennies also outshot Hamline 8-3 in the first half, though the Pipers narrowed the gap with a 6-5 shot difference in the second half. Hamline goalkeeper Isabella Jensen recorded five saves in 90 minutes of play.
