Grace Fitzgibbons and
Emma Osland of the College of Saint Benedict lacrosse team have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District At-Large Team, according to an announcement Tuesday (June 25).
The 2024 Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes at-large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.
Both Fitzgibbons and Oswald, who earned their second straight Academic All-Midwest Lacrosse Conference honor on June 17, were named to the CSC Academic All-District At-Large Team for a first time. They represent the first academic all-district honorees in CSB lacrosse program history. In addition, they were part of a CSB lacrosse team that captured its second straight regular season MLC regular season title in compiling a 9-5 record, including 5-0 in MLC play. Osland and Fitzgibbons are part of a CSB team that was 12-0 in conference play over the past two years and reached the MLC playoff championship in back-to-back seasons while recording a 20-8 overall record.
Fitzgibbons, a global business and computer science major from Minneapolis, Minn., is a two-time All-MLC honoree. In 2024, she had 24 goals and 15 assists for 39 points while recording a .796 shot on goal percentage in 2024. She also had 21 ground balls and 48 draw controls. In two seasons and 28 games, she has 55 goals, 28 assists and 83 points with 52 ground balls and 82 draw controls. This year Fitzgibbons had eight multi-goal games with a with a high of five against Hamline on March 20, 2024 in a 16-6 victory. In her career, she has 15 multi-goal games and five games of four goals or more, including six against Augsburg on April 29, 2023 when she had a career-best eight points.
A nursing major from Cottage Grove, Minn., Osland also earned all-conference honors for a second straight year. She tied a career-high with five goals in the 19-9 MLC semifinals win over Hamline on May 1. Nine times this year and 16 times in her career, Osland has tallied multi-goal games. In her career, she has played 28 games with 47 goals, nine assists and 56 points. She has 51 ground balls and 51 draw controls.
