BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Junior Greta Nesbit, who helped the College of Saint Benedict to a 6-3 win over St. Scholastica on Saturday (March 23), has earned her first-ever Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Tennis Player of the Week honor.
 
Nesbit, a junior mathematics major from Le Suer, Minn., earned the first MIAC weekly honor by the CSB tennis team this season. She is ninth CSB student-athlete in tennis to earn a MIAC weekly honor with the Bennies accumulating 11 total in program history. With Nesbit leading the way, Saint Benedict improved to 4-4 overall with a 2-0 MIAC record and a tie for second place.
 
"Greta is an extraordinary team player who continues to grow her game match by match," said CSB head coach Jack Bowe, whose team will host St. Catherine on April 6 and and Concordia College on April 7. "Not only has she continued to improve in singles, but she has upped her play in doubles as well. She didn't play a lot of doubles a year ago but has stepped up this season. Greta truly understands the importance of adjusting to various situations and challenges. She is a good leader who is focused on helping this team succeed."
 
In the 6-3 road MIAC win over St. Scholastica, Nesbit, who improved to 2-0 in MIAC play and 4-4 overall, recorded a straight set 6-2, 6-3 win over Mishel Benitez of St. Scholastica. At No. 2 doubles, she teamed with senior Peyton Kopel to record an 8-7 (6-0) win over Benitez and Chloe Hasbargen of the Saints.
 
 Nesbit has won three of her past five singles matches including two in a row. Nesbit has a 3-2 record at No. 3 singles. In her career, Nesbit owns a 24-19 singles record with a 14-8 mark in MIAC play. In doubles, she stands 17-13 overall with a 10-3 MIAC mark.
