ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – After scoring a school-record seven goals, Sami Hackley of the College of Saint Benedict lacrosse team has been named the St. Cloud Orthopedics / CSB Athlete of the Week.

Hackley earned her first CSB Athlete of the Week honor after recording seven goals in a closely-contested 18-13 loss to Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Wednesday, March 13 in Eau Claire, Wis. She and her teammates will open the 2024 Midwest Lacrosse Conference schedule with a 5 p.m., game against Hamline on Wednesday, March 20 in St. Paul, Minn.  

This season, Hackley 11 goals and two assists for 13 points which ranks second on CSB.  She has made 17 shots with a .657 shots percentage. This season, Hackley has one game-winning goal, a team-high 11 ground balls and seven draw controls. In back-to-back games, Hackley has recorded four or more goals as CSB has gone 1-1. She had four goals with an assist for five points with a season-best five draw controls in an 19-4 win over Milwaukee School of Engineeering on March 10. Then, on March 13, she set a school record with the seven goals on just nine shots for a .714 shot on goal percentage. She also had four grounds balls and five draw controls in the setback to UW-Eau Claire. She now has 13 multi-goal games with six of four goals or more during her career. The seven goals by Hackley surpasses the program-best mark of six by Grace Fitzgibbons on April 29, 2023 against Augsburg.
 
In her career, the Plymouth, Minn., native now has a program-best 48 goals and 60 points in 17 games. She has made 98 shots for a .490 shooting percentage with 71 shots on goal. Hackley has accumulated a program-best five game-winning goals, 43 grounds balls and 73 draw controls.
 
Named CSB's first-ever MWLC Offensive Player of the Week during the 2023 season, she was first-team All-MWLC and "Rookie of the Year" after leading the team with 37 goals and with 10 assists has 47 points.

Hackley, who had multi-goals in 11-of-13 games, recorded four goals in a game five times including a high of five in the tournament win over Cornell. She had a team high 66 draw controls and ranked second on the lead with 32 ground balls while registering a team-high four game-winning goals. In league play she led the MWLC in draw controls with 43 and her 24 goals were tied for second with her 33 points tied for first.
