Camryn Hargreaves both had a goal and an assist while senior
Jenna Timm and sophomore
Shae Stinnett added goals as the College of Saint Benedict hockey team (6-3-2, 4-1-1 MIAC) earned a 4-1 win over Bethel (4-3-1, 3-3-0 MIAC) in road MIAC play.
With the victory, the Bennies move to 6-3-2 overall and improved to 4-1-1 in the MIAC as they sit in a tie for third place with Hamline. The Bennies will return to the ice with a home contest against Wisconsin-Superior on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m.
After four straight periods without a goal, the Bennies' offense broke out with three goals against the Royals in the second period. Hargreaves scored at 2:14 in the second period on an even strength goal for a 1-0 lead. Hargreaves, who is tied for the MIAC lead with seven goals scored, was assisted by
Skylar Salscheider, who had her league-best eighth assist.
Senior
Ava Stinnett pushed the lead to 2-0 off another even strength goal at the 4:49 mark off assists by Hargreaves (second of the season) and sophomore
Brooklyn Johnson (2
nd of the season). Stinnett recorded her second goal of the season and the 27
th of her career, which ranks 11
th all-time at CSB.
Then at 16:39, sophomore
Shae Stinnett had her fifth goal of the season on an even strength tally as she was assisted by
Emily Wendorf (fifth of the season) and
Shauna Miller (third of the season).
CSB's lead grew to 4-0 when senior
Jenna Timm scored her first goal of the season (13
th of her career) on an even strength tally at the 6:40 mark.
Ava Stinnett assisted on scoring play for her second assist of the season and her 25
th of her career.
Bethel broke up a potential shutout by scoring on a power play at the 14:47 mark when Brynn Swenson recorded her second goal in two games. Siri Olson assisted on the play.
Sophomore goaltender
Delaney Norman, who improved to 2-1-0 on the season, had a solid night for CSB in goal with 17 saves and one goal allowed. The Bennies had control throughout the evening on offense, accumulating a 29-to-18 shots advantage. Bethel held the face-off edge with a 37-to-20 margin.
