Moehrle and Jones lead CSB Volleyball to a second straight MIAC win

Bennies roll past St. Scholastica, 3-1, in a road matchup

DULUTH, Minn. – Sophomore McKenna Moehrle had 12 kills and a .320 hitting percentage, while Kali Jones recorded her eighth double-double of the season, leading the College of Saint Benedict (5-9, 2-1 MIAC) to a 3-1 victory over St. Scholastica (8-9, 1-2 MIAC) on Saturday.

This win marks CSB's second consecutive victory, improving their conference record to 2-1 and overall record to 5-9.

Moehrle's impressive performance included 12 kills on 25 attacks with only four errors, along with three total blocks, including one solo. This game marked her eighth match this season with double-digit kills. Jones, a sophomore outside hitter, matched Moehrle's total with 12 kills on 37 attempts, hitting .270. She also contributed 11 digs, securing her eighth double-double of the season and the 14th of her career. Sophomore Brooke Andries also reached double digits, finishing with 10 kills on 28 attacks and a .214 hitting percentage.

Senior setter Audrey Spolidoro orchestrated the offense with 32 assists, nine digs, and three kills. She surpassed 3,000 career assists, reaching a total of 3,024 and is now just 29 assists shy of passing Megan Pekarek (3,052 assists, 2015-17) for sixth on CSB's all-time list. Junior Chaeli Haupert led the defense with 23 digs. The Bennies totaled 49 kills on 161 attacks, hitting .180, along with four service aces and six total blocks.

In the opening set, CSB recorded 11 kills on 45 attacks, winning 25-21. After dropping the second set, the Bennies bounced back to take the final two sets. They rallied from a 22-18 deficit in the third set to win 25-23, achieving 16 kills on 40 attacks with a .300 hitting percentage. In the decisive fourth set, CSB maintained their momentum with 13 kills on 34 attempts, hitting .294. The Bennies recorded an impressive 26-of-43 sideouts across the final two sets.

Next up for St. Benedict is a home MIAC matchup against Macalester College at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11. Following that, CSB will travel to Bethel for a conference game on Oct. 12, also starting at 7 p.m. in St. Paul, Minn.
