ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict (5-6-4, 2-5-2 MIAC) celebrated a season-high goal total with a 5-2 victory over St. Scholastica (0-13-4, 0-8-1 MIAC) on Tuesday, October 22, during their home regular-season finale at the CSB Outdoor Athletic Complex.
Alli Voss and
Summer Seamans each scored two goals, while
Sydney Burns contributed another. This win boosts the Bennies' overall record to 5-6-4 and their MIAC record to 2-5-2. They will look to carry this momentum into their final road games against St. Olaf College on October 26 and Carleton on November 2, both starting at 1 p.m.
Seamans, a first-year midfielder from Wayzata, Minn., had an outstanding performance, scoring her first two career goals and adding an assist for a total of five points. Voss, a senior from Edina, Minn., also shined, netting two goals to raise her season tally to nine, tying her for third in the MIAC. Voss contributed her fourth assist of the season, bringing her career total to 29 goals and leading the team with 22 points, which ranks fourth in the MIAC. Burns added her first goal of the season, marking the seventh of her career.
Seamans opened the scoring at 12:45 with a goal assisted by
Avery Soli, giving the Bennies a 1-0 lead. St. Scholastica quickly equalized with a goal from Kaitlyn Sautter at 14:31, assisted by Julia Lewis. Seamans struck again at 22:29, netting her second goal with assists from Voss and
Olivia Smith, putting CSB ahead 2-1. The Saints leveled the game at 2-2 with an unassisted goal from Jordyn Randa at 33:12. Just before halftime, Burns scored an unassisted goal at 42:06, giving St. Ben's a 3-2 lead at the break.
CSB continued to build on its momentum in the second half. Voss scored at 48:06 with an assist from Seamans to extend the lead to 4-2. Voss added her second goal at 68:38, assisted by
Addison Stephani, finalizing the score at 5-2.
Voss led the team with five shots, four of which were on target, while Seamans had four shots with two on goal.
Ellie Piette also contributed five shots, and
Emily Cavanaugh had four.
The Bennies dominated the offensive play, outshooting St. Scholastica 40 to 13, with 20 shots in each half. CSB also had a significant advantage in corner kicks, 7 to 1, including 5 to 2 in the first half.
In goal, junior
Madisen Carter made three saves in 45 minutes, while sophomore
Rhianna Anya recorded three saves in 40:17, and senior
Annie Waters added a save in the final 4:43.
