Spolidoro and Jones had double doubles but CSB Volleyball falls at Bethel

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict (6-10, 3-2 MIAC), which had double doubles from Audrey Spolidoro and Kali Jones, dropped a 3-0 (17-25, 25-27, 28-26, 13-25) decision to Bethel (15-4, 5-0 MIAC) on the road Saturday night.

With this victory, Bethel secured its spot at the top of the conference, improving to 15-4 overall and remaining undefeated in the MIAC at 5-0. Saint Benedict's record now stands at 6-10, placing them in a tie for fourth in the conference. The Bennies, which had its three-game winning streak end, will face Northwestern (Minn) in a nonconference matchup on Friday, Oct. 18, at Claire Lynch Hall.

Spolidoro led CSB with 30 assists and 18 digs, marking her 49th career double-double and 13th of the season. The senior from Cottage Grove, Minnesota, continues to climb the ranks on CSB's all-time assists list, now with 3,093 career assists, including 628 this season, and also now has 968 career digs.

Jones powered the CSB offense with 13 kills and 17 digs, achieving her ninth double-double of the season and the 17th of her career. She hit .205, while teammate McKenna Moerhle contributed 11 kills on 24 attacks with a hitting percentage of .375. Junior Mackenzie Knofczynski added 11 kills on 38 attacks and recorded four blocks, including one solo.

As a team, CSB registered a hitting percentage of .182 with 49 kills on 165 attacks, alongside 72 digs and seven total blocks.

Game Summary
In the first set, Bethel hit .167 with 13 kills on 48 attacks and added four service aces, while CSB managed just eight kills on 41 attacks for a hitting percentage of .024. Bethel quickly established a 12-4 lead. Although CSB closed the gap to 14-7 with a brief 3-2 run, Bethel extended its lead to 18-7 before finishing the set, 25-17.

The second set was closely contested, with CSB hitting .333 and notching 15 kills on 33 attacks, but ultimately falling, 27-25. CSB took an early 5-0 lead and later led, 19-11. However, Bethel rallied with an 11-2 run to tie the set at 21-21. Despite a late surge from CSB, Bethel claimed the set and a 2-0 lead.

In the third set, CSB rebounded with a strong performance, hitting .278 with 19 kills on 58 attacks, and secured a 28-26 victory to narrow Bethel's lead to 2-1. CSB initially led 15-10 before Bethel responded with a run of its own. However, two kills from Moehrle helped CSB regain control and finish the set by scoring the final two points.

In the fourth set, Bethel jumped ahead early, leading 9-6 and extending its advantage to 16-9. The Royals closed out the match with a decisive 25-13 victory, hitting an impressive .452 with 16 kills on 33 attacks, while CSB struggled, hitting only .080 with six kills on 25 attempts.
