ST. CLOUD, Minn. – First-year
Shae Stinnett recorded her second career goal, but the College of Saint Benedict hockey team (7-5-2, 3-2-2 MIAC) dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 2 Gustavus Adolphus (10-2, 7-0 MIAC) on Friday, Jan. 12 at Ritsche Arena.
With the setback, the Bennies dropped to 7-5-2 overall and 3-2-2 in the MIAC and with 11 league points sit in fifth place in the conference. Gustavus has 21 conference points and with a 7-0-0 record sit in first place. CSB and GAC will play the second half of a home-and-home series in St. Peter, Minn., on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Gustavus jumped to a 3-0 lead after two periods before CSB's tallied its lone goal off a power play opportunity by Stinnett.
Emily Wendorf, also a first-year standout, had her eighth assist of the season.
The Gusties opened the scoring with a power play goal by Kylie Scott off an assist by Brooke Remington. Later in the first period, Hailey Holland had her first of two goals by tallying an unassisted short-handed score at the 18:32 mark. Gustavus' Lily Mortenson had an unassisted even strength goal at the 11:56 mark for a 3-0 lead.
Midway through the third period, CSB cut the lead to 3-1 when Stinnett scored. After the Bennies pulled their goalie, Holland scored an empty net goal at the 18:34 mark for the 4-1 lead.

Delaney Norman had a strong performance with just three goals allowed and 30 saves in 59:39 in her fourth career start. GAC's Katie McCoy had 21 saves and one goal allowed in 60 minutes in the pipes. Saint Benedict was outshot, 34-to-22. However, CSB had a 13-to-8 margin in the third period. The Bennies won 29 to 59 face-offs with junior forward
