ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – An opening four-game road swing continues as the College of Saint Benedict soccer team (1-1) will travel to face the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugolds (1-1-1) at 2 p.m., on Saturday, September 9.

How things stand
During the opening weekend on Sept. 1-2, the Bennies split a pair of games as they dropped a 1-0 decision at 13th ranked University of Wisconsin-La Crosse before rebounding with a 2-1 win at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
In the opener, CSB lost to the nationally ranked Eagles in a contest that saw Hayley Slaski score the lone goal. CSB goalie
Annie Waters had eight saves in facing 25 shots. CSB had five shots, including two on goal.
In game two, the Bennies opened up the scoring in the 34th minute from senior
Lana Krautkremer, who recorded her sixth goal of her career off an assist from
Addison Stephani. In the second half, the Bennies also received a goal from
Ella Young, who had her fifth career goal at the 83:48 mark. UWSP scored with 85:17 left but CSB's defense stepped up as the Bennies recorded its second win of the season.
Series Records:
Against, UW-Eau Claire, CSB has a 15-9-2 record, including a 2-1 win in St. Joseph on September 10, 2022. The series began on Oct. 10, 1987, with a 3-0 CSB over UW- Eau Claire in St. Joseph. The Bennies, which have a 7-5-1 record in Eau Claire, is 5-4-1 against the Blugolds in the past 10 matchups. CSB's longest winning streak against UW-EC is five games from Sept. 8, 1996, to Sept. 4, 2000.
Opponent Breakdown:
UW- Eau Claire soccer (1-1-1), directed by head coach Sean Yengo (27 years), has qualified for 30 NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) Tournaments dating back to the 1992-93 season. The Blugolds have finished in the top three of the WIAC (Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) 21 times in 33 total seasons. Throughout his career, Yengo has led the team to 25 conference finishes and 30 NCAA tournament appearances. He is 271-172-54 and a WIAC record of 125-55-14. As a team, the Blugolds average 1.67 goals per game and allow 1.33. The Blugolds have scored five goals and put up 40 shots, including 19 on goal.

A year ago, CSB earned the No. 2 seed in the MIAC tourney and ranked as high as sixth in the NCAA DIII regional rankings. In the past two seasons plus two games this year, CSB has compiled a record of 17-4-4 in league play with a 24-7-4 overall record.
Head Coach
Steve Kimble has directed CSB to 12 winning seasons in 14 years and 140 wins. In addition, the program has had 20 All-Region athletes, 34 All-MIAC honorees and 19 All-MIAC honorable mention selections during his tenure. A year ago, the Bennies had numerous honors, including five first-team All-MIAC performers for the first time in school history. It is a group that will lead this team again in 2023.
