ST. JOSEPH, Minn. - After three games against two of the top 10 teams in NCAA DIII, the College of Saint Benedict hockey team (0-3-0) will face Concordia -Moorhead (1-0-0) in a home-away series to open the MIAC schedule in 2023-24. The Bennies host the Cobbers at 7 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 9 at Ritsche Arena. Then, they travel to Concordia-Moorhead for a 2 p.m., game on Saturday, Nov. 11.
About the Concordia Cobbers
Concordia went 1-0 last week, winning against Dubuque (6-1). The Cobbers will be led by head coach Jason Gregoire, who is in his 2nd season. Maddie McCollins leads the team with two goals and 14 shots, while Abbey Reule has two assists.
Series Notes – Concordia vs. CSB
When CSB meets Concordia on Thursday evening, the teams will play for the 49th time. CSB has an overall record of 11-30-8 against Concordia. CSB owns a 3-12-4 home record against the Cobbers. In their last meeting on November 12, 2022, the Bennies defeated the Cobbers, 4-0, in St. Cloud, Minn.

The Bennies return 14 veteran skaters from the 2022-2023 team, which tied for the most wins in school history last year with 14. The 2022-2023 team also set a school record with 11 conference wins and registered a program-best third place conference finish (11-7).
CSB opened the season with a pair of road losses to No. 7 UW-Eau Claire (2-0) by scores of 4-3, 7-1. Last week, CSB fell to the No. 4 ranked UW-River Falls, 5-0, in a game close until the Falcons broke open a 1-0 lead after two quarters with four third period goals.
The Bennies have totaled four goals and allowed 16. The Bennies have been outshot, 148-to-62. In goal, CSB has 132 saves to 58 for their opponents. In power plays, CSB has gone 0-of-10 while opponents are 4-of-14. CSB has won 84 faceoffs and lost 124 (0.404 percentage).
Returning All-MIAC performer Aurora Opsahl has had one goal this season in the opener against UW-Eau Claire. Opsahl, who has played in 47 career games, scored her 18th career goal in the opener. In her career, she has three-game winning shots and 19 assists. Last year, she played in 26 games, with a career-high of two goals against UW-Eau Claire on Oct. 29, 2022.
In the third period of the 4-3 loss of UW-EC, junior Ava Stinnett recorded her first goal of the season and the 13th of her career. Stinnett, who also had an assist in the second loss to UW-EC, ranks 19th in the MIAC with nine shots. Stinnett, who has played in 52 career games, has 152 shots on net and 19 assists in her career with the Bennies. A year ago, she was third in the MIAC for face-off wins against total faceoffs (261-of-558). She also tied for fifth in the MIAC with four game-winning goals of the seven goals she scored last year.
Also, in the 4-3 loss to UW-Eau Claire, first year standout Brooklyn Johnson had her first goal of her career.
In that opener, junior Sydney Hunst had a pair of assists while junior Sami Boerboom also recorded an assist. Hunst has played in 33 games with 4 career assists and 1 goal. Boerboom has played in 49 games with 8 goals, 6 assists and 60 shots.
In the second game against UW-Eau Claire, senior Corrine Brown recorded her first goal of the season. She now has 12 career goals, 18 assists, and 151 shots and has played in 56 games.
Junior goalie Kate Moffat is ranked second in the MIAC and has recorded 89 saves (.908 PCT). She has played in 22 career games with 259 total saves with an overall record of 5-4-0.
Macy leads CSB Hockey
Head coach Lindsay Macy begins her second year as head coach at Saint Benedict. In her first year, Macy directed the Bennies to a program-best 11 conference wins and tied the program-mark for total wins with 14. CSB was 14-12 overall with an 11-7 record in league play in the MIAC in 2023. The Bennies advanced to the conference semifinals. Two players were named All-MIAC (Jenna Timm, Aurora Opsahl). At CSB she has a career record of 14-15 and 11-7 in the MIAC.

After their home/away games against Concordia-Moorhead, the Bennies will have a home/away with St. Scholastica. The Bennies will host St. Scholastica (0-2-0) on Friday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m., before traveling to Duluth, Minn., for a game with the Saints on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 4 p.m.
