ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The College of Saint Benedict soccer team (4-5-1, 2-3-1
MIAC) dropped a 1-0 decision to Gustavus Adolphus (7-5, 3-3 MIAC) in MIAC play on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 7).
The Bennies will now return to St. Joseph, Minn., to host Concordia-Moorhead in MIAC play at 4 p.m., on Oct. 11, at the CSB Athletic Turf Field. With the 1-0 loss to Gustavus Adolphus, the Bennies fall to 2-3-1 in league play and 4-5-1 overall. Over the past seven games, CSB, which is 2-4 in one score games this year, has a 3-2-2 record.
The Gusties scored the game's only goal in the opening half as Cambelle Waldspurger tallied a goal at 21:14 off an assist by Gabriela Rodriquez.
For the game, the Bennies out-shot the Gusties by a 12-to-4 edge, including a 4-to-1 shots on goal advantage. The Bennies also had a significant margin in corners by a 7-to-1 total. In goal,
Madisen Carter allowed just a single goal in her third start.
Grace Fitzgibbons had three shots while both
Alli Voss and
Mary Blaska both had two for CSB.
Kate Olson of GAC had four saves in facing the 12 shots by CSB.
