ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The home success for the College of Saint Benedict soccer team (9-5-3, 6-3-2 MIAC) continued on Saturday as the Bennies registered a 0-0 tie with MIAC regular season champion Carleton (15-1-2, 9-0-2) at the CSB Athletic Turf Field.
With the performance, the Bennies finished the regular season at 9-5-3 with a 6-3-2 MIAC record and clinched a home field playoff berth. CSB will be seeded fourth and host fifth-seeded Concordia (7-5-4, 5-3-3 MIAC) on Monday, Oct. 30. Carleton will be the No. 1 seed in the playoffs after the regular season title which included a 9-0-2 MIAC record. The Bennies finished in a tie with Macalester for third place (6-3-2 records, 20 points). However CSB had a regular season loss to Scots and, therefore, will be the fourth seed. The Bennies are 13-time playoff participants and in the postseason for the sixth straight season, while the Cobbers have made 14 playoff tournaments all-time but will be headed to the postseason for the first time since 2015. Kickoff for the Bennies and Cobbers is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the CSB Athletic Field.
With the tie with Carleton, the Bennies remain unbeaten at home over the past two years. In 2023, the Bennies sit 5-0-3 and finished 7-0-1 in 2022 for an overall 12-0-4 record in those 16 home contests.

Steve Kimble praised his team's tenacity of getting to the net and playing outstanding soccer against Carleton, which had a 15-1-2 overall record.
"We're happy to get the point needed to secure a home playoff game. Both teams had chances, it was fitting to finish with a draw," said Kimble, who has a 149 career wins, including 95 in MIAC play. "Every time we play Carleton it is close and stressful. It is fun to see two MIAC teams compete," said Kimble.

Alli Voss, who each had three shots. In total, Carleton had an 18-to-15 margin in shots, including 12-to-6 in the first half. CSB had a 9-to-6 advantage in shots in the second half. CSB also had a 4-to-3 edge in corner kicks.
In the net, CSB junior goalkeeper
Annie Waters made eight saves in facing 18 shots by the Knights. She had her sixth shutout of the season and now has 0.72 goals against average and 0.836 save percentage.
