Adolphus at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Warner
Palaestra Pool in
Collegeville, Minn.
On Senior Day, CSB will recognize six seniors including
Katie Brewer (nutrition major) of Brooklyn Park, Minn.;
Molly Johanson (biology and math major), Chanhassen, Minn.;
Emily Quill (integrative science major), Becker, Minn.;
Mary Ridgeway (biology major), Litchfield, Minn;
Fiona Rosko (biology major, Seaside, Calif.; and
Mads Slavik (psychology major), Green Isle, Minn. The Senior Day event is scheduled for 2-3 p.m.
Through this point in the year, the Bennies have had several notable efforts, accumulating 37 wins with 32 individual titles and five relay crowns in seven competitions this year. On Nov. 19, the Bennies had five event wins at the Grace
Goblirsch Invite (Gustavus
Adolphus), led by two event wins by
Molly Johanson, who had a season-best in the 1650 freestyle in 19:19.63.
Emi Wagner also had an event win (four on the season) in the 50 free with her top time of the year of 25.19.
Lindsay Smutka has four individual wins, with her clocking of 1:00.57 in the 100 backstroke at the Grace
Goblirsch Invite a season-best.
Molly Johanson also has four individual wins while Rachel
Schlueter (100 free) Lauren
Sitzman (200 back) and Fiona
Rosko (200 backstroke) have individual titles. Then, CSB closed out the first half of the season with a standout showing at the Rochester Invite. After the break, CSB competed at the SJU Invite on Jan. 14 and defeated Concordia in dual action, 561-340. On Jan. 21, CSB lost to Carleton, 185-115 but had four event wins.
Upcoming Schedule
On Feb. 3-4, CSB will conclude the regular season at the Minnesota Challenge in Minneapolis. The MIAC Championships will be held from Feb. 15-18 in Minneapolis.

Smutka has two wins in dual at Carleton
Lindsay
Smutka had two titles and a second-place finish to lead the College of Saint Benedict Swimming and Diving Team in a dual against Carleton College on Saturday. The Bennies finished with four titles, and 18 top-three finishes at the meet won by Carleton, 185-115. Smutka continued to pick up victories in the pool as the junior won the 100 backstroke in 1:00.50, and the 100 butterfly in 1:03.93 while placing second in the 200 backstroke. Collegeville, Minn., on Jan. 28, also had a first-place finish from junior
Emi Wagner with 25.55 clocking in the 50 free while senior Molly
Johanson won the 400 IM in 4:53.87.
In 1-meter diving, CSB had three of the top four finishes, including
Mikayla Haskamp finished second at 195.80 while Sabrina
Buffetta was third in 180.25 and Claire
Hippen, fourth, 171.60. On the 3-meter board,
Buffetta was second with a season-best 193.60 with
Hippen, third with a season-high 180.05 with
Haskamp, fourth, 166.35.
CSB Swimming and Diving wins 15 events in dual with Concordia
With 15 event wins, the College of Saint Benedict Swimming and Diving Team had a successful opening the second half of the season. As a result, CSB took a 561-to-340 decision over Concordia. Junior Lindsay

Smutka won the 100 backstroke and the 100 butterfly while swimming on the winning 200 freestyle and 200 medley relays.
Haskamp was also a member of the victorious 200 freestyle relay while winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions and the 100 freestyle.
Haskamp had a PR in 3-meter diving with 181.85. Senior Molly
Johanson won three events including the 200 freestyle, 50 breaststroke and 100 IM. In winning the 50 butterfly, first-year Ellie
Blattner had a season-best.
Haskamp named CSB Athlete of the Week on Jan. 17
After being part of four wins at the SJU Spring Invite, first-year swimming and diving standout
Mikayla Haskamp has been named the College of Saint Benedict Athletics Athlete of the Week for Jan. 17.

CSB's leaders as the Bennies defeated Concordia-Moorhead, 561-340 at the Warner
Palaestra Pool at
Collegeville, Minn.
Haskamp is the rare competitor who competes in both swimming and diving events, and she won twice in each on Jan. 14. She was a member of the victorious 200 freestyle relay, won the 100 freestyle while capturing titles in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions and the 100 freestyle. In the swimming events on Saturday,
Haskamp won the 100 freestyle with a clocking of 57.36. She also swam the third leg of the 200 freestyle, which finished at 1:44.52. In the diving competition,
Haskamp won both boards as she had a score of 186.50 on the 1-meter board and she won the 3-meter board with a season-best score of 181.85, surpassing her previous mark of 176.80.
Rochester Invite spurs big performances led by Lindsay Smutka
On the final day of the Rochester Invite, the College of Saint Benedict Swimming and Diving Team continued to impress this season with 26 season-best times and seven lifetime bests as the three-day meet wrapped up at the
Rochester-Olmstead County Recreation Center Natatorium. The Bennies finished seventh among the nine teams at the invite, scoring 555 points. CSB competed against schools from NCAA DI, NCAA DII and NCAA
DIII in the competition. DI Nebraska-Omaha won the invite with 2,018 points with DII St Cloud State second at 1625.5. St. Ben's finished seventh and ahead of DII Minnesota State Moorhead and fellow
MIAC member Carleton. Among the highlights was that of Lindsay

ka, who had a series of career-best performances and earned CSB Athletics Athlete of the Week.

Molly Johanson's two wins leads CSB at Grace Goblirsch Invite
Led by two individual titles by senior
Molly Johanson, the College of Saint Benedict swimming and diving team finished second in an impressive performance at the Grace
Goblirsch Invite on Nov. 19. The Bennies finished second with 860 points. The host, Gustavus
Adolphus was first with 1,647 points with Morningside, third, at 393 points and Augsburg, fourth, 34 points. In total, CSB had five individual titles with 18 top-three finishes and 27 top-five results.
Johanson won the 1,650 free with a season-best 19:19.63 and had a victory in the 400 IM in 4:54.73. In the 200 butterfly, junior
Laura Jennings won the title with a season-best of 2:20.44. Junior
Emi Wagner continues to sprint at a fast pace, she had her season-best of 25.19 in winning the 50 free. That mark was .17 better than her previous best this year of 25.36. Junior
Lindsay Smutka had a season-best 1:00.57 in capturing the 100 backstroke while also taking second in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.91 as well as the 200 backstroke in 2:14.68.
CSB at St. Kate's Pentathlon

CSB vs St. Cloud State
With a title and 11 top-four finishes, the College of Saint Benedict Swimming and Diving Team had another solid performance as they hosted Division II St. Cloud State at the Warner
Palaestra Pool at Saint John's on Oct. 28. The Bennies had an individual title from
Emi Wagner, who won the 50 freestyle in 25.50. Freshman
Rachel Schlueter had a second place finish in the 100 freestyle in 56.59 while
Fiona Rosko was second in the 200 back in 2:32.35 to highlight the performances.
Macalester vs CSB Dual
Molly Johanson,
Lindsay Smutka, and
Emi Wagner both won titles to highlight the performance of the College of Saint Benedict Swimming and Diving Team at a dual with
Macalester on Oct. 29 in St. Paul, Minn. In total,
Macalester defeated St. Ben's, 147-95, but the Bennies put together a series of standout efforts. For the second straight meet, junior
Emi Wagner picked up a win in the 50 freestyle as she clocked a 25.40 in winning the race. Junior
Lindsay Smutka won the 100 backstroke with a 1:01.32 clocking while finishing third in 200 free in 2:07.75. Senior
Molly Johanson had the other victory for the Bennies as she captured the 400 IM in 4:54.38.
Johanson also clocked 11:32.36 in claiming second in the 1000 free.On the day, the Bennies had 14 top-three finishes, two titles and 33 placings in the top five. CSB also had competitors in diving for the first time.
Mikayla Haskamp was third in the 1-meter board with 201.50 points while
Sabrina Buffetta was fourth in the 1-meter board with 184.05 and fourth on the 3-meter board with 157.95 points.
St. Ben's falls to St. Olaf
As the season has progressed, so has the performances of the College of Saint Benedict Swimming and Diving Team. Despite a 158-141 loss to St. Olaf on Nov. 4. The Bennies had six titles, including a combined three (individual/relay) by
Lindsay Smutka, and 24 top-three finishes to go with multiple season bests.
Smutka, a junior from
Chaska, Minn., captured the 100 backstroke in 1:01.37 and the 200 backstroke in 2:14.62 while also being part of the winning 400 freestyle relay that clocked a season-best 3:47.93. The relay team included junior
Emi Wagner, junior
Hannah Tatge and first-year
Rachel Schlueter.
Smutka also took second in the 200 IM in 2:21.38. Both
Schlueter and Wagner also had individual wins as they were double winners. Wagner, a junior from St. Cloud, Minn., won her third straight 50 freestyle title with a season-best 25.36.
Schlueter captured a 100 freestyle title in a season-best 56.34 while also claiming third in the 100 backstroke in 1:02.56. Senior
Fiona Rosko of Seaside, Calif., also had a title with a clocking of 2:33.52 in the 200 breaststroke and finished second in the 100 breaststroke with a season-best 1:12.99 and fourth in the 100 butterfly in 1:05.35. Junior

Emily Quill was second in 3-meter diving in 205.75 and fourth on the 1-meter board at 198.50. Senior
Mads Slavik of Green Isle, Minn. had a solid night as she swam on the second place 200 medley relay, while finishing second in the 100 back in 1:01.78 and fifth in the 200 back in 2:20.97.

With individual titles from
Molly Johanson and
Lauren Sitzman and a 200-freestyle relay victory, the College of Saint Benedict Swimming and Diving Team continued its strong showing early in the 2022-23 season at a quadrangular meet at the Warner
Palaestra Pool on the Saint John's campus. In total the Bennies had 14 top-three finishes and eight second place results to go with the three titles. In addition, CSB had 30 top-five efforts. St. Ben's, which will next compete at the
Goeblisch Invite in St. Peter, Minn., on Nov. 19, continued to swim fast and dive strong as the season has progressed. Among the stellar performances was that of senior
Molly Johanson, who won the 200 IM in 2:18.99. In addition, she finished second in the 1,650 free at 19:39.44 and was a member of the third place 400 medley relay, 4:15.99 (

Smutka also was second in the 100 back in 1:06.05 and second in the 100 butterfly in 1:02.59. First-year standout
Lauren Sitzman won the 200 back in 2:15.92 for her first career title while finishing fourth in the 100 back in 1:04.10 and swimming on two relays. Junior
Laura Jennings was on two relays while also finishing second in the 500 free in 5:44.36 and 200 butterfly in 2:22.70. First-year
Mikayla Haskamp also had an impressive night at the pool. She had a second-place finish in the 100 free in 56.97 and also had a rare double by leading the CSB diving team. With
Haskamp finishing second on both boards, she led a 2-3-4 finish in both events for the Bennies. In the 1-meter board, she had a 192.50 total and then had a 176.80 mark on the 3-meter board.
Mandy Wolvert begins 4th season at CSB
Mandy Wolvert enters in her fourth season as head coach in 2022-23. Along with three seasons as the team's head coach,
Wolvert also has six seasons as the team's assistant under her belt. She served as an assistant from 2012-15 and then again from 2016-19. As an assistant,
Wolvert helped coach the team to four
All-MIAC honors in 2018-19 - the most for the program since 2012-13. In her first three seasons as assistant coach, Saint Benedict finished in the top five each year at the
MIAC Championships, including fourth-place finishes in 2013 and 2014.
Wolvert is a 2000 graduate of St. Cloud State where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in mass communications. She also swam for the Huskies for three years from 1996-99.
