ST. JOSEPH, Minn. - The College of Saint Benedict soccer team has been putting on offensive jets on home turf so far this season, including Saturday afternoons game against Saint Mary's. Â
The Bennies took charge of their attacking zone early into the first half, giving Saint Mary's goalkeeper an early wakeup call with shots from Lana Krautkremer, Grace Navara, and Erica Golenzer. The continued pressure from the Bennies would prove to be a useful tactic, as Addison Stephani would get one past the SMU goalkeeper in the 22nd minute to put the Bennies on the board with the 1-0 lead. CSB would have three more players add shots in the first half before the buzzer would sound, keeping them in the 1-0 lead at the half. Â
The second half began, and the Bennies led off with a goal just following a corner kick in the 47th minute, Caralyn Conners getting the ball in the net with help from Alli Voss to make it 2-0. However, the Bennies aren't done there. Voss would add two more shots on goal that would be saved, but Abby Willenbring's third shot in the 51st minute would be able to get by with help of a pass from Caralyn Conners to now make it 3-0. A few more shots would be made by the Bennies, but at the buzzer sound it would be 3-0 final score in favor of CSB for another at home victory. Â
Up next, the Bennies will take on UW-Stout on Sunday, September 18th in Menomonie, Wisconsin, with kick off scheduled for 7 p.m.Â
