ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Tracy Renier ended her track and field career at CSB in record fashion at the 2022 MIAC outdoor track and field championships, and now Tuesday afternoon she has been recognized for her outstanding work in the classroom during her four years as a student-athlete.

Renier, a senior on the College of Saint Benedict track and field team, was named the 2022 Elite 22 Award winner for the outdoor track and field season. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics with a 4.0 GPA earlier this month after four full years and CSB/SJU.

This is the second year in a row that Renier has won the Elite 22 award for the outdoor track and field season. Renier is the first Bennie athlete to win the award twice in a year. She joins Abby Willenbring of CSB soccer as the second Elite 22 award winner at Saint Benedict of the 2021-22 school year. This award recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level while also achieving the highest academic standard among their peers.

At the conference meet just a few weeks ago, Renier was crowned the MIAC champion in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. She then headed to the La Crosse qualifier the following week, taking third in the steeplechase and running a 12-second personal best time of 11:09.85, the second-best time in program history and one of the top 30 times in Division III.

Renier, for the second time, joins Piper Murray, Kathryn Gaydos, Natalie Amundson and Hunter Weiss, along with Willenbring, as CSB's Elite 22 honorees. The award was founded in 2013 and is modeled after the NCAA Elite 90 Award.
