CSB basketball tries for a fourth season sweep Saturday in Moorhead

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict basketball team heads north to take on Concordia for the second time this season, looking to extend its win streak and series sweep. Tip-off against the Cobbers is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29.  
 
Per MIAC policy, fans must be masked in the gym at all times. Fans exhibiting COVID-like symptoms or generally feeling unwell are asked to please stay home and watch the livestream of the game here. 
 
About the Cobbers 
The Cobbers are 6-8 overall, 6-6 in conference so far this season as they head into their series finale against the Bennies. The Cobbers are also currently on a three-game win streak, with their latest 67-58 win over Macalester on Wednesday night. Emily Beseman and Jennie Sem scored double digit points in the win. Beseman leads the team in scoring overall, with a 12.7 points per game.  
 
Last Meeting 
In early December, the Bennies and the Cobbers met for the first time this season, where the Bennies led by just one point through the first half. A big third quarter put CSB 10 points ahead and the Cobbers wouldn't be able to catch up, giving the Bennies a 71-61 victory at home. Madison Doran scored a career-high 21 points to lead the Bennies.  
 
The Storyline 
The Bennies are on a three-game win streak and looking to keep the momentum going as the season begins to wind down. CSB basketball is 11-5 overall, 8-5 in conference play with eight regular-season games left. They are currently in fifth in the MIAC standing behind Bethel, Hamline, Gustavus, and league-leading Augsburg.  
 
Who to Watch 
First year Olivia Boily had a career-high 11 rebounds to pace CSB against Carleton on Wednesday night. Sophomore Carla Meyer continues to be solid on the court, scoring an average of 13.8 points per game and putting her seventh in the MIAC standings. Junior Tori Szathmary continues to hold third in the MIAC standings with 7.5 rebounds per game.
