ST. JOSEPH, Minn. –
Tracy Renier had a career performance at the 2021 MIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, but Wednesday afternoon she was honored for the work that she's been putting in the past three years in the classroom.
Renier, a junior on the College of Saint Benedict track and field team, was named the 2021 Elite 22 Award winner for the outdoor track and field season. She is an economics major with a 4.0 GPA after three full years at CSB/SJU.
Renier is the fifth Elite 22 winner in Saint Benedict athletics history, and the first since Hunter Weiss won the award during the 2018 volleyball season. She is the first-ever Bennie track athlete to be honored with the award, which recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level while also achieving the highest academic standard among their peers.
At the conference meet just a few weeks ago, Renier finished as the conference runner up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, and ran the third-best time in program history in the process. She was also a part of the eighth-place 3,200-meter relay team.
Renier joins Piper Murray, Kathryn Gaydos, Natalie Amundson and Weiss as CSB's Elite 22 honorees. The award was founded in 2013, and is modeled after the NCAA Elite 90 Award.
