CSB soccer falls to Tommies in final game of rivalry

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict soccer team wrapped up its home season – and its rivalry with St. Thomas – with a 4-0 loss to the Tommies Tuesday evening in St. Joseph.

The Bennies (2-2-1) held the Tommies (3-0) to a single first-half goal, but St. Thomas scored a trio of goals in the second half to pull away for the win.

UST's first goal of the game came at the 14-minute mark, and that would prove to be all the Tommies needed. UST added two goals within three minutes early in the second half, and added a final goal in the 84th minute to wrap up scoring.

Saint Benedict put two shots on net – one by Clair Lehmann and one from Clara Noack – to UST's 11. Sophomore goalkeeper Paige Kahlmeyer tied her season high with seven saves in net, including four in the first half.

The Bennies wrap up the Spring 2021 season Sunday, May 2, when they travel to St. Paul for a 1 p.m. game against St. Kate's.
