ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – After not playing for 489 days, the College of Saint Benedict volleyball team is trying to get in as many games as they are allowed in the Spring 2021 season.

The Bennies had another opportunity to play Friday when Minnesota-Morris' original opponent had to back out, and head coach Nicole Hess jumped at the chance to compete - and compete in Claire Lynch. The nonconference game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, March 26, in Claire Lynch.

Per MIAC policy no spectators are allowed, but live stats and video are available here.

ABOUT THE COUGARS
After dropping its first match of the season 3-2 to UW-Superior, Morris rattled off three straight sweeps to improve to 3-1 in this spring season. Prior to Thursday's UMAC matchup with Martin Luther, Tori Everson led the team in kills (42) and was second on the team with 52 digs and five blocks.

LAST MEETING
CSB beat Morris twice within a week at two different tournaments to start the 2019 season. The Bennies won 3-0 in San Antonio, Texas, on Aug. 30, then beat the Cougars again 3-1 on Sept. 6 at CSB's home tournament in St. Joe. Madison and Hunter Weiss both had double-digit kills in the September meeting, and Katie Koch had 43 assists.

THE STORYLINE
In its first match since November 2019, Saint Benedict came out swinging and swept Concordia to start the Spring 2021 season Wednesday. A trio of first years played a significant role in the win, and the team looks to gain more confidence and experience Friday in the nonconference match.
