ABOUT THE COBBERS
After falling to CSB on Feb. 6 to start the season, the Cobbers hung tight with a tough St. Thomas team Saturday before falling 63-58. Concordia led the Tommies by seven after one quarter, and took a slim lead midway through the fourth quarter, but couldn't secure a key rebound late in the game. Emily Beseman leads the team and is in the top 10 in the MIAC in scoring, and Mary Sem is fourth in the league in rebounds per game.
LAST MEETING
Saint Benedict and Concordia met just one week ago in the 2021 season opener for both teams. The Bennies got off to a fast start, and were able to hold onto that lead throughout the game. The Cobbers cut the lead to four several times in the third quarter, but couldn't pull any closer. Maddie Schmtiz led CSB with 25 points and 18 rebounds, and four others scored in double digits for CSB.
THE STORYLINE
Last week against the Cobbers, CSB got off to a fast start and then settled in. Saturday against Hamline the Bennies started slow the finished fast and furious to turn a seven-point halftime deficit into a 14-point, come-from-behind win. This week against Concordia, CSB looks to be consistent throughout the game.
