ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The 2021 season will look different than anything the College of Saint Benedict swim and dive team has ever experienced, but head coach Mandy Wolvert is still looking for big performances from her team.

The Bennies kick off the season Saturday, Feb. 6, in a dual meet with St. Thomas. The swimmers are scheduled to compete at St. Thomas starting at 9:30 a.m., and the team's divers will compete at Saint John's starting at approximately 3 p.m. The meet is the first of four scheduled for CSB this season.

Mikayla Von Wahlde is back for her final season with the team after earning All-MIAC honors in the 100 backstroke for the second straight year, and Ana Birklid and Emily Quill also return after earning All-MIAC Honorable Mention accolades. Quill returns for her sophomore season after a record-setting first year that saw her set two school records and become the program's first national qualifier since 2001-02. She was unable to compete after the championships were canceled due to the COVID pandemic, but finished in the top 10 at the NCAA Central Zone Meet.

A handful of other incoming sophomores made big impressions on the team as first years in 2019-20. Jes Milstroh recorded top-10 times in program history in the 100 fly and 100 IM, and led the team in points scored over the course of the year. Molly Johanson moved into the top 10 in the 100 and 400 IM, and Thea Oman (100IM) and Madison Slavik (100 back) all moved into the top 10. Diver Mia Sabin recorded top-10 marks in all four diving competitions.

After setting the school record in the 200 IM as a first year, Birklid tied that record last season at the conference meet. Milstroh and Oman became the teams first 50 freestylers to break 25 seconds since 2018 in the prelims of the event at the conference championships.

After taking on St. Thomas this weekend, the Bennies head back to St. Paul Friday, Feb. 12, for a dual meet against Hamline. A dual meet against Gustavus and a triangular with St. Kate's and Hamline are also on the schedule for CSB this season.

All schedules are subject to change. Schedule changes throughout the season will be posted on www.gobennies.com, as well as the department's Twitter and Facebook pages.
