CSB basketball starts MIAC play Saturday in Duluth

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict basketball team begins MIAC play on Saturday as it takes on St. Scholastica in the first MIAC contest between the two teams. The Bennies will be on the road in Duluth, Minn., with tipoff scheduled for 1 p.m.  
 
Per MIAC policy, fans must be masked in the gym at all times. Live stats and video are available. 
 
About the Saints 
The Saints are 0-2 on the season so far, with losses against Crown and UW-Superior. The 71-45 loss against Superior at home leaves the Saints looking for redemption on their home court when they host the Bennies on Saturday afternoon. First year Karli Nixon has scored 30 points, sophomore Megan Hurley has 29 points, and sophomore Miranda Boberg has 23 points to lead the Saints' offense so far this season.  
 
Last Meeting 
The last time CSB and CSS met was back on December 30, 2017, in Duluth, and the Bennies would take home the win with a score of 81-48. Four Bennies scored double-digit points in the win over the Saints.  
 
The Storyline 
The CBS basketball team is coming off two wins against Minnesota-Morris and Bethany Lutheran in its season-opening Tipoff Tournament that was last weekend. The Bennies are looking to keep the momentum of their big win over Bethany Lutheran going into MIAC play in order to stay in the win column early on this season.  
 
Who to Watch 
Gabby Martin leads the Bennies in points so far this season, scoring 27 points in two games played. Carla Meyer and Tori Szathmary are tied for second in points with 23 scored. Meyer leads in three-pointers made with six and Szathmary leads CSB in rebounds and is third in the MIAC with 9.0 rebounds per game.
