ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team is on the road this weekend for its first MIAC weekend doubleheader. The Bennies take on Macalester at 7 p.m. Friday in St. Paul, then head to Minneapolis Saturday for a 7 p.m. game against Augsburg.
Live stats and video will be available for both matches. Per campus policy, masks are required indoors at all times on both the Augsburg and Macalester campuses, regardless of vaccination status.
About the Competition
Macalester is 10-6 overall and 1-2 in the MIAC thanks to a win over Carleton. The Scots look to bounce back after a 3-0 loss to St. Olaf last week. Eliza King leads a trio of athletes with 100 or more kills with 193 kills and Stephanie Geber has 41 total blocks Nicole Norton has 500 assists and Torrance Williams leads the defense with 212 digs.
Augsburg is 10-8 overall, 2-2 in the MIAC and looking to snap a two-game losing streak after losses to Hamline and Gustavus. The losses came after a big win against No. 19 UW-Stevens Point. Kayla Gjerde is one of three athletes with 100 or more kills with 155, and Jade Fullerton has 67 blocks. Angel Khang has a team-high 231 digs and Lexie Lang has 562 assists.
Last Meeting
CSB and Macalester haven't played since Oct. 2, 2019, and the Bennies won 3-0.
Gabby Heying had seven kills and
Mary Wenisch had 13 digs. The Bennies hosted Augsburg on March 31, 2021, and won a trio of tight sets to pick up the sweep.
Emma Guest had seven kills and
Mackenzie McDonald had 14 digs.
The Storyline
A young CSB volleyball squad is looking to find some consistency as the regular season starts to wind down, and gain some momentum in MIAC play. The Bennies look to snap a two-game losing streak as they hit the road this weekend, and bring some energy back to Claire Lynch for a pair of home games Oct. 15 and 16.

Heying has been the team's offensive leader all season, and she has 173 kills for the Bennies. First year
Sophie Kobienia is just shy of 100 kills with 99.
Payton Marker and
Audrey Spolidoro have split time running the offense, and Marker has 237 assists to Spolidoro's 194. Wenisch, the team's lone senior, has a team-best 212 digs and McDonald has 137.
