ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict soccer team's offense has been efficient so far this season, and the defense has been key in keeping opposing teams off the scoreboard. The Bennies look to keep that defensive prowess up Tuesday, Oct. 12, when they hit the road for a rare Tuesday afternoon game against Bethel.
Game time is 4 p.m. in Arden Hills.
About the Royals
Bethel is 5-7 overall, 3-3 in the MIAC and looking to snap a three-game losing streak heading into Tuesday's game. The Royals dropped a 3-1 conference game at Carleton Saturday afternoon. Rachel Waterman, Lauren Davis and Kelsey Bergan have three goals each and Waterman also has two assists. In net, Izzy Smith has 78 saves and a 1.83 goals-against average.
Last Meeting
Saint Benedict beat the Royals 3-2 on April 11, 2021, in St. Joe.
Roxy Veldman scored a pair of goals in the first 12 minutes to put the Bennies up 2-0, but Bethel responded with two goals to tie the game.
Lana Krautkremer scored the first goal of her CSB career in the 66
th minute to lift the Bennies to the win.
Paige Kahlmeyer made six saves.
The Storyline
Goals from
Sydney Burns and
Clair Lehmann lifted the Bennies to a 2-0 shutout of St. Olaf Saturday, but the Bennie defense has been keeping the team in games as of late. Saint Benedict has seven shutouts this season, including four in MIAC play, and have shut out four of its last five MIAC opponents. CSB looks to keep that streak alive Tuesday against Bethel.
