Women's Track and Field | 07/14/2020
ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – Earlier this spring,
Lee Stelten – a 2020 graduate and four-year member of the College of Saint Benedict track and field team – won the CSB athletic department's Presidential Award for her success and resume not only with the team, but also in the classroom and the community.
Now, Stelten is moving forward as the college's nominee for the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year award. She is one of 605 senior women from around the NCAA – including 220 Division III student-athletes – nominated for the prestigious award.
Stelten certainly fits in with the group of women, whose average GPA is 3.73. Stelten graduated in May with a four-year GPA of 3.84 and a nursing major. She was named to the Dean's List each semester at CSB, earned Academic All-MIAC all three years she was eligible and was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing.
Stelten was selected to be a part of the nursing department's immersion trip to Belize, and she also served as a mentor on campus for the nursing program.
On the track, Stelten qualified for the MIAC Championships in the pole vault in six of her seven seasons and earned five All-MIAC honors, including a pair of third-place finishes. She earned USTFCCCA All-Central Region honors three times, and graduates with two marks in the top 10 in program history.
Now that each school has put forth their nominees for Woman of the Year, conference offices will each select an honoree to put forward. From the conference nominees, the top 30 honorees – 10 from each division of the NCAA – will move forward, and three finalists from each division will be invited to the NCAA Woman of the Year banquet this fall.
