SARTELL, Minn. – After playing against a tough Bethel squad Saturday afternoon, the College of Saint Benedict tennis team had to come back right away Sunday and take on Saint Mary's. Three of the six singles matches went to three sets and one doubles and one singles match needed a tiebreaker as CSB fell 6-3 to the Cardinals in a marathon five-hour match at Sta-Fit.
CSB (9-3, 2-3) started out strong in doubles play.
Tessa Rahrick and
Mackenzie Schurhamer started the team off with an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles, and
Erin Kolbow and
Lauren Clark teamed up to win 8-6 at No. 3 doubles.
Lily Fredericks and
Kayla McIver led at No. 1 doubles, but Saint Mary's came back to force a tiebreaker and win 8-7 (7-5).

Rahrick forced a tiebreaker at No. 1 singles, but fell 7-6 (7-0), 6-0. Fredericks forced a third set after bouncing back from a first-set loss, but fell 6-2, 4-6, 12-10 at No. 3 singles. Schurhamer lost 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles, and both Kolbow and
Karsen Aune needed a third set at No. 5 and 6 singles.
At No. 5 singles, Kolbow won the first set but lost the next two, falling 2-6, 6-0, 12-10. Aune also won her first set at No. 6 singles, but lost 4-6, 6-4, 10-8.
