CSB tennis falls to Bethel

SARTELL, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict tennis team dropped a MIAC match 9-0 to a tough Bethel squad Saturday afternoon at Sta-Fit in Sartell.

"Bethel is a very strong team, and we had moments where we competed well, especially in singles," CSB head coach Michael Engdahl said. "We have to improve on our overall confidence and belief. I know we are a stronger team than we put out today, and sometimes we struggle to realize how good we can be. (Sunday) is a huge test for our team, and I can't wait to get back around the court."

Bethel (14-2, 3-0) came out strong in doubles play. Kayla McIver and Lily Fredericks fell 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, and Tessa Rahrick and Mackenzie Schurhamer lost 8-3 at No. 2 doubles. Erin Kolbow and Lauren Clark wrapped up doubles play with an 8-3 loss at No. 3 doubles.

Rahrick fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, and McIver lost 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Fredericks picked up her first singles loss of the season, falling 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Schurhamer lost 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles, Kolbow fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 singles and Karsen Aune fell 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.

Saint Benedict (9-2, 2-2) is back in action Sunday, April 7, when it hosts Saint Mary's at 5 p.m. at Sta-Fit.
