ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict tennis team dropped a 9-0 match to a tough St. Thomas squad Friday afternoon. CSB hung tough, but fell to the Tommies in the team's first home outdoor match of the season on CSB's campus.
With two matches left in the regular season, Saint Benedict is now 9-6 overall and 2-6 in the MIAC. St. Thomas is 11-2 overall and 7-1 in the league.
CSB played some tough points with the Tommies, but UST swept doubles play.
Kayla McIver and
Lily Fredericks fell 8-1 at No. 1 doubles, and
Tessa Rahrick and
Erin Kolbow fell 8-2 at No. 2 doubles.
Karsen Aune and
Mackenzie Schurhamer lost by the same score at No. 3 doubles.
Rahrick pushed her match to three sets at No. 1 singles before falling 6-3, 7-6 (7-3). McIver fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, and Fredericks lost 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. Schurhamer lost 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles; Kolbow fell 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5 and Aune lost 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
CSB wraps up the 2018-19 regular season with matches Friday and Saturday, April 26-27. The team is in Northfield Friday to take on nationally ranked Carleton before hosting Macalester Saturday at noon to end the regular season.
