ST. PETER, Minn. – After a tough loss to St. Olaf Saturday night, the College of Saint Benedict tennis team had to bounce right back Sunday and hit the road to take on nationally ranked Gustavus. CSB played some tough matches, but ultimately fell 9-0 to the Gusties, who are ranked No. 31 in Division III.
Tessa Rahrick and
Erin Kolbow nearly forced a tiebreaker at No. 2 doubles against Gustavus before falling 8-6.
Kayla McIver and
Lily Fredericks lost 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, and
Karsen Aune and
Mackenzie Schurhamer fell 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.
Rahrick fell 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles for CSB, and McIver lost 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Fredericks fell 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, and Schurhamer fell 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. Kolbow fought before falling 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 singles, and Aune fell 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
With three MIAC matches left in the 2018-19 regular season, CSB is 9-5 overall and seventh in the MIAC with a 2-5 mark. CSB takes on St. Thomas Friday at noon in St. Joseph, then ends the regular season with matches April 26 and 27.
