CSB hosts Concordia in two neutral-site MIAC games

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – After two losses to conference opponent Bethel last weekend, the College of Saint Benedict hockey team gets back in action this weekend with neutral-site 'home' games. CSB will play Concordia College Jan. 18 at 7:10 p.m. and Jan. 19 at 3 p.m. at Runestone Arena in Alexandria.
 
About the Cobbers
Concordia has started the season 8-5-2 overall and 5-1-2 and currently sitting in third in the MIAC. The Cobbers lost their last game 2-1 to Saint Mary's on Jan. 12. Amanda Flemming is second in the MIAC with eight goals, and is one of 12 goal scorers for the Cobbers. Brittany Boss leads the team in net with 184 saves and a .893 save percentage in seven games played.
 
Last Meeting
Concordia swept Saint Benedict last season, winning 4-1 and 5-2 in the series, which was played in Moorhead. Kailee Medved made 30 saves in the first game of the series and 31 the next day. Mollie Wise scored in the second game of the weekend and Maddie Dockry had a pair of assists.
 
The Storyline
After 5-3 and 2-1 losses against Bethel last weekend, CSB looks to get back in the win column with a pair of conference games. CSB is tied for sixth in the league with Bethel currently, but looks to get out of that tie and move up in the conference standings. Saint Benedict returns to the MAC for a home game on Jan. 26 against St. Catherine.
 
Who to Watch:
Kylie Eklund scored her first two goals last weekend to bring her point total to five this season, and Courtney Conlin had three assists. Conlin leads the team with six goals and six assists and Julia Pias has five goals and four assists. In net, Kailee Medved has 202 saves, a .910 save percentage, and is allowing 2.44 goals against in nine games in net. Medved is sixth in the league in goals against average and seventh in saves.
