ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict soccer team continues MIAC action this week after a 2-1 win Wednesday night at Augsburg. CSB hosts Bethel University in a conference matchup at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, in St. Joseph.
About the Royals
Bethel is off to a great start with an 8-2 record and a 3-1 mark in the MIAC. The Royals have outscored opponents 35-10 this season, with 12 different players scoring. Britney Monteon is tied for first in the in the MIAC with 22 points from eight goals and six assists on 45 shots. Rachel Waterman and Maggie Sipe both have added six goals apiece. Kaylee Peterson has been solid in net with 50 saves and a .815 save percentage in eight games played.
Last Meeting
CSB won 2-0 over Bethel when the two teams met last season in St. Paul.
Sydney Sherek scored the eventual game-winner with less than 10 minutes to play in the first half, and
Jenna Kleason sealed the win when she scored on an unassisted goal two minutes into the second half. In the shutout,
Kendall Koenen made three saves, and CSB held a 7-3 edge in shots on net over the Royals.
The Storyline
CSB is coming off a 2-1 MIAC victory at Augsburg on Wednesday night after dropping three straight. Bethel comes into the matchup riding a four-game win streak and tied atop the MIAC standings. Saint Benedict looks to even up its MIAC record at 3-2 Saturday against the Royals. After Bethel, CSB continues the conference season as it gets back on the road to play St. Mary's on Saturday, Oct. 6.
