CSB travels to take on Augsburg Wednesday

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict soccer team continues MIAC action this week after a Saturday afternoon 1-0 loss to St. Olaf. CSB travels to Augsburg in a conference matchup at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, in Minneapolis.
 
About the Auggies
Augsburg is off to a solid start with a 4-4 record and a 2-1 mark in the MIAC. The Auggies have outscored opponents 15-8 this season, with four different players scoring. Ashley St. Aubin leads the MIAC with nine goals on 53 shots, and Gabriela Encarnacion leads the team with three assists. Emily Chapman has been solid in net, and is second in the MIAC with 50 saves and a .862 save percentage in eight games played.
 
Last Meeting
Augsburg tied 2-2 in double-overtime at CSB when the two teams met last season in St. Joseph. Ciara Gregory scored both goals in the first 15 minutes for Augsburg. Maren Noble scored in the 38th minute and Sydney Sherek scored in the 82nd minute for CSB. Kendall Koenen made seven saves, and CSB held a 21-9 edge in shots on net over the Auggies.
 
The Storyline
CSB is coming off three straight loses, losing at No. 16 St. Thomas 2-1 in double overtime, at home 2-0 to UW-Eau Claire, and 1-0 to St. Olaf. Saint Benedict looks to get back in the win column against the Auggies. After Augsburg, CSB continues the conference season as they return home to play Bethel on Saturday afternoon.
 
Who to Watch
First year Clara Noack and sophomore Megan Thompson lead CSB with two goals each. Thompson also leads the team with two assists and eight shots on goal. Kendall Koenen leads the team in net with 34 saves and .756 save percentage in six games played.
