MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict tennis team got its busy stretch off to a solid start Thursday night when it beat Hamline 6-3 at Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
The match marked the first of five matches between Thursday and Sunday for CSB, which is now 11-5 overall and 2-2 in the MIAC. Eleven wins is the most for the program since it finished 13-10 in 2013-14.
The Pipers (7-7, 0-6) started the night with an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles, but CSB finished doubles play 2-1 after wins at No. 2 and No. 3.
Ellen Stensrud and
Mackenzie Schurhamer held on for an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles, and
Erin Kolbow and
Lauren Clark teamed up to win 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.
The Pipers picked up their final wins of the night at No. 1 and 2 singles before Saint Benedict took over. Stensrud won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and
Kayla McIver picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles. Schurhamer won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5, and
Kylie Miller wrapped up the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
CSB continues its weekend Friday when it takes on Bethel at 6:30 p.m. at Baseline Tennis Center.
