NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict soccer team's offense sputtered Saturday in a 1-0 loss to St. Olaf.
CSB only had one shot on net in the loss in Northfield and the team fell to 5-2-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the MIAC.
The Oles (5-3, 3-0) had three first-half shots on net, but neither team scored in the first half, and the game was tied at 0-0 until the final 10 minutes of play. St. Olaf broke the scoreless tie in the 80
th minute when it scored on a header off a corner kick.
Megan Thompson had a shot in the 84
th minute, but it was high and the Oles held on for the win.
Haley Neumann put up CSB's lone shot on goal in the 25
th minute, but the Oles made the save to keep the game scoreless. CSB goalie
Kendall Koenen made back-to-back saves at the end of the first half to keep the game scoreless heading into halftime.
The Oles had an 11-7 edge in shots Saturday afternoon, including a 6-1 margin in shots on net. Koenen finished the day with five saves.
CSB is back on the road Saturday, Sept. 30, when it travels to St. Paul to take on Bethel.
