RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team picked up a pair of sweeps – its first and second sweeps of the season – to wrap up its two-day Wisconsin road trip Saturday afternoon.
In the second day of the UW-River Falls Invite, CSB (5-5) beat both UW-Stout and UW-River falls 3-0 at Page Arena in River Falls, Wis. CSB ended its weekend road trip 3-1 with its only loss coming to No. 25 UW-Stevens Point.
In the first match of the day, CSB picked up three close wins against the Blue Devils (4-6). CSB won 25-22, 25-21 and 25-17.
Hunter Weiss led the team with 13 kills on a .462 hitting percentage and
Liz Schultz added 12.
Megan Pekarek finished the first match with 31 assists and four block assists, and
Madison Weiss also had five block assists.
Haley LaValley led the team with 11 digs and Schultz finished with 10.
The second match of the day against host-school River Falls was equally as close, but Saint Benedict came out on top once again. CSB won 25-17, 27-25 and 25-13.
Hunter Weiss led the team once again with 10 kills, and twin sister
Madison Weiss finished with nine while Schultz added eight. Pekarek added 33 assists to her weekend total and LaValley had 16 digs.
Bridget McDonald also came through with 10 digs.
Saint Benedict returns to MIAC play Wednesday, Sept. 20, when it travels to St. Paul to take on St. Thomas at 7 p.m. CSB plays at home for the first time this season Friday, Sept. 22, when it hosts Hamline at 7 p.m. in Claire Lynch.
