LAKEVILLE, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict tennis team dropped a MIAC match to Carleton College 9-0 Sunday afternoon in Lakeville, Minn.
The loss marks the third straight for CSB, which is now 9-10 overall and 2-5 in the conference. The Knights are 10-4 overall and undefeated at 6-0 in the MIAC.
"We did a great job (Sunday) adjusting to what went on (Saturday)," CSB head coach
Michael Engdahl said. "We knew Carleton was one of the top teams in the conference, and I thought we competed really well. We need to keep having matches like today and we will improve like crazy."
Carleton was dominant in doubles play, winning all three matches. The Knights beat
Tessa Rahrick and
Ellen Stensrud 8-2 at No. 1 doubles,
Kylie Miller and
Erin Kolbow 8-1 at No. 2 doubles and
Gabbie Noack and
Lauren Clark 8-1 at No. 3 doubles.
Rahrick took her singles match to a tiebreaker, but fell 6-1, 2-6, 10-3 at No. 1 singles. Kolbow fell 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, and Stensrud also took her match to a tiebreaker before falling. She lost 2-6, 6-3, 10-7.
Clark fell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles, Noack lost 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 and
Ashley Kraemer fell 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
CSB steps out of conference play Tuesday, April 11, when it travels to St. Paul to take on Northwestern at 4:30 p.m. CSB is back at home Saturday, April 22, when it hosts Saint Mary's at 11 a.m.
