MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – In its final road game of the 2016-17 season, the College of Saint Benedict hockey team fell 6-1 to No. 10 Augsburg Friday night in Minneapolis.
The Auggies (17-7, 13-4) led 2-0 after scoring a pair of goals late in the first period, but
Allison Kirk scored on the power play 58 seconds in to the second period to make a one-goal game.
Elli Marvin was credited with the assist – her 13
th of the season.
Augsburg added a second-period goal of its own, however, to push its lead back to two, 3-1, and added three third-period goals. The first came eight seconds in to the period, the second came in the ninth minute and the final goal of the game came in the 13
th minute.
Augsburg finished with 42 shots on net to CSB's 16. Marvin and
Brigette Miller each finished with three shots on goal to lead CSB. Sophomore goalie
Julia Carle recorded 36 saves.
Saint Benedict (4-17-3, 1-13-3) wraps up the season Saturday, Feb. 17, when it hosts the Auggies at 3 p.m. at the MAC in St. Cloud.
