ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict hockey team wrapped up its 2016-17 season Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 loss to Augsburg College at the MAC in St. Cloud.
CSB ends the season 4-18-3 overall and 1-14-3 in the MIAC. Gustavus won the league's regular-season title and earned the No. 1 seed in the five-team postseason tournament, and the Auggies (18-7, 14-4) are the No. 2 seed.
Augsburg started the scoring in the 13
th minute of the first period when Darby Lindgren scored unassisted from out in front of CSB goalie
Julia Carle. The score stayed at 1-0 the remainder of the first period, and CSB had several chances to tie the game in the second, but twice the puck hit the pipe and clanged out to keep Saint Benedict off the board.
The Auggies added two more goals in the third period for the final score of 3-0. The first came three minutes in to the period on a power play, and the final goal of the game came in the sixth minute of the third period.
Augsburg outshot CSB 42-12, and
Julia Carle finished with 39 saves to wrap up her first season with the team with 576 total saves.
Elli Marvin finished with four shots on net.

Hannah Esselman,
Stephanie Kirk,
Allison Kirk and
Maddie Rainey.
