ST. CLOUD, Minn.- The College of Saint Benedict hockey team (0-3, 0-1 MIAC) suffered a hard 8-0 loss on Nov. 9 at the hands of the Hamline Pipers (2-1, 1-0 MIAC) at Dave Torrey Arena.
Hamline scored early and often in the game, with Darby Dobbs scoring halfway through the first period. Dobbs converted four minutes later on a shorthanded opportunity that just trickled by junior goaltender
Julia Carle. Bre Simon added another goal in the closing minute of the game to put Hamline up 3-0 heading into the first intermission.
Hamline added a power play and second shorthanded goal in the second period, in addition to an even-strength goal to bring their total to 6-0 heading into the final period. First year goaltender
Kailee Medved took over between the pipes for CSB in the final frame, but even she was not immune to Hamline's offensive success. The Pipers added two goals in the closing 20 minutes to bring their goal total to eight.
Kaitlyn Miller led the way offensively for CSB, registering a team-leading three shots on goal.
Mollie Wise added two shots of her own. Carle ended her night with 23 shots saved of the 29 she faced, while Medved saved 11 of the 13 she faced. Annie Juergens picked up the win for the Pipers, saving all 12 shots she faced, while Mari Johnson saved four shots in her 5:40 of playing time for Hamline.
Saint Benedict returns to action Friday night, Nov. 10, when it travels to Hamline. Game time is set for 7:15 p.m. at Oscar Johnson Arena in St. Paul, Minn.
