Marvin’s hat trick leads CSB past Northland

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Elli Marvin got her senior season with the College of Saint Benedict hockey team started off right Friday night.

Marvin recorded the first hat trick of her collegiate career to help lead CSB past Northland College 7-4 at the MAC in St. Cloud. First year Mollie Wise scored a pair of goals in her first game in a CSB jersey and Natalie Roberts and Brigette Miller each added a goal for CSB.

Friday's game marked the first-ever varsity women's hockey game for Northland, which is in its first year of existence.

Marvin got the scoring started in the 11th minute of the first period, scoring an unassisted power play goal. Wise scored the first goal of her career less than 30 seconds later in the 12th minute off a pass from Katie Cristan to make it 2-0, and Miller put Saint Benedict up three with less than a minute left in the first period off an assist from Kacee Medved.

Wise started the scoring in the second period with a power play goal on an assist from Maddie Dockry in the 11th minute. Marvin added her second goal of the game in the 13th minute off assists from Hannah Esselman and Kylie Kramer, and the Lumberjills scored the first goal in program history in the 14th minute to make it 5-1.

Marvin completed her hat trick 25 seconds in to the third period off an assist from Allison Kirk to put CSB up 6-1. Natalie Roberts added her first goal of the season and the second of her career in the third minute off an assist from Esselman, and Northland wrapped up the game with three third-period goals by three different players.

Saint Benedict finished the night with 57 shots on net to Northland's 19. Sophomore goalie Angel Hillstrom made 15 saves, and Chloe Marshall made 50 saves in her collegiate debut for Northland.
