ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict basketball team wraps up a three-game home stretch Saturday, Jan. 9, when it hosts Concordia at 3 p.m. in Claire Lynch Hall.

Saturday's game also marks the Blazers' last home contest until Saturday, Jan. 30. Following its game against the Cobbers, CSB is on the road for five straight games, so the Blazers are looking to make good use of home-court advantage Saturday afternoon.

About the Cobbers

Concordia is 8-4 overall and tied for second at 4-1 in the MIAC. The Cobbers are riding a four-game winning streak into Saturday's matchup, and look to keep that streak alive. Concordia's only MIAC loss came to St. Thomas, which is currently ranked ninth in Division III, and the Tommies didn't pull away until the final three minutes of the game. Jenna Januschka leads the team and is fifth in the MIAC in scoring (15.6) and Olivia Johnson is second in the MIAC in rebounds per game (8.8).

The Storyline

Concordia looks to keep its winning streak alive and CSB is looking to start a streak Saturday afternoon as the MIAC season gets under way in earnest. Both teams are looking to stay near the top of the conference and put some distance between themselves and the rest of the pack. The Cobbers are in a two-way tie for second, and CSB is currently in a four-way tie for fourth.

The Blazers head into Saturday's game coming off a historic overtime win Wednesday against Macalester. The hard-fought, 63-56 win put Saint Benedict at 500 conference wins since joining the league in 1985. The Blazers are the third women's basketball program to hit the milestone.

Sophomores Niki Fokken and Ke'Avae Taylor both did their part to ensure CSB would reach the milestone at home. Fokken had 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Taylor blew past her previous career high with 14 points for CSB. Macy Kelly added 10 points and Chelsey Guetter finished with 10 rebounds.

Fokken leads the team in scoring (9.8) and rebounding (7.5) and first-year Grace Wolhowe leads the MIAC with a .478 three-point percentage.
