About the Oles:
The Oles were unanimously picked to finish at the bottom of the MIAC in the conference's preseason poll, and have yet to win a game this year. Their lone victory came against Finlandia University in Michigan, a team that is 0-13 this year. They are plagued by a MIAC-worst defense which has given up 3.45 goals per conference game this season. They are currently on a two-game losing streak after beating Finlandia to open 2016.
Â
Storyline:
The Oles have yet to win a game in the MIAC this season and the Blazers would like to keep it that way. After 2015 was full of highs and lows for Blazer hockey, a strong weekend against St. Olaf would be the perfect springboard into the homestretch of the MIAC season. To do that, the Blazers will have to resurrect the offense that scored 12 goals in four games against Gustavus and Concordia. The Blazers have been held to just two goals in the past three games.
Â
Last Year:
In 2014, the Blazers swept a two-game series against the Oles. On Friday, the Oles took a 2-1 lead early in the second period. The Blazers then scored three unanswered goals and went on to win the game 5-3. On Saturday, the Blazers took a 2-0 lead early in the second period and rode it to a 6-3 victory. Marvin and Liz Hermes each scored three goals in that game.
