ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict soccer team picked up its first MIAC loss of the season Wednesday afternoon when it fell 2-0 to Augsburg College.
The match, which featured the 2013 conference champion Blazers and the reigning MIAC champion Auggies, put two of the league's undefeated teams up against each other in St. Joseph, Minn. Saint Benedict came into the match looking to protect its home field and avenge a 3-0 shutout from last season, but came up against a tough Auggie defense and goalkeeper.
Augsburg (7-1, 3-0) scored its first goal of the game in the 27
th minute when Nora Edelen took a shot from the top left side of the box that sailed over CSB keeper
Heather Kaluzniak's outstretched hand. Kaluzniak made two saves in the first half to keep the Auggies' lead at one.

Aly Hoffman both put shots on Auggie keeper Marissa Guillou to start the second half, but neither got past Guillou. Augsburg added another goal to its lead in the 70
th minute when Marie Fitzgerald scored on a header off a penalty kick by Kealie EspindaBanick to make it 2-0.
Taylor Hedin and Hoffman both put another shot on Guillou, but she stopped both to preserve the win and the shutout.
Saint Benedict (4-3-2, 2-1) outshot the Auggies 10-6, including a 5-4 margin in shots on goal. Kaluzniak finished with two saves and Guillou stopped all five she faced.
The Blazers are back on the road Saturday, Oct. 3 when they travel to St. Paul, Minn., to take on St. Kate's.
