CSB basketball tries to push win streak to three against Oles

ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – After winning its second consecutive conference game, the College of Saint Benedict basketball team returns home Wednesday, Feb. 4, to face off against St. Olaf. The Blazers now sit with a record of 10-9 and have gone 7-5 in MIAC play this season.
 
About the Oles: The Oles started their season 2-1 before losing six of their next eight matchups. The Oles head into their matchup against the Blazers with an overall record of 8-11 and a conference record of 5-7. They are also looking to gain more conference wins as they have lost three of their last four MIAC matchups.
 
Last Year: Last season the Blazers finished the season with one win and one loss against the Oles. In the first game, the Blazers took a 66-51 win after leading at halftime by a score of 29-25. Emily Lueck led the Blazers' offense with 10 points and Mattie Lueck added another eight points. In the next game, the Blazers fell by a score of 68-62. Mattie Lueck led the team with 22 points and four rebounds
 
The Storyline: After winning three of their last four games, the Blazers will be looking to capitalize on their momentum as they continue into their final conference games of the season. St. Olaf will be looking to turn around their season before it is too late as they also head into the final stretch of the regular season.
 
Who to Watch: Mattie Lueck is leading the Blazers with 14.3 points per game and 6.7 overall rebounds. Abby Miller also adds 8.3 points per game and leads the team with a .816 free throw percentage. Emily Lueck is averaging 7.7 points per game and 2.1 assists.
 
Last Time Out: In their last time out, the Blazers took a 73-62 win over the Wildcats of St. Kate's. After a close first half, the Blazers pushed through in the second half and successfully stopped the Wildcats. Mattie Lueck finished the game with 14 points and seven rebounds while Emily Lueck added another 13 points and seven rebounds. Kate Banovetz helped lead the defense with 13 rebounds.
 
Honoring Girls and Women in Sport: Today is National Girls and Women in Sport Day, and CSB is taking part by honoring Deb Johansen at halftime. Johansen is one of this year's Breaking Barriers Award winners. She founded the ARISE program in St. Cloud. ARISE gives children with disabilities the opportunity to participate in a number of sports, and serves an average of 90 children per year.
