ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict basketball team plays at home for the last time in 2015 Wednesday night when it hosts Hamline. The MIAC matchup starts at 7 p.m. in Claire Lynch Hall in St. Joseph.
About the Pipers
Hamline is 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the league heading into Wednesday's game. Two of Hamline's five losses, however, have come in overtime, and their conference loss was a one-point overtime loss to Macalester. Chelsey Bonsante leads the Pipers and is second in the MIAC in scoring (18.9) and Chloe Graves is third in the league in assists per game (4.6).
Last Meeting
CSB won the only meeting between the two teams in 2014-15. The Blazers won 85-68 on Jan. 7 in St. Paul, Minn.
Annie Dittberner scored 12 points to lead the Blazers, who led by almost 20 at halftime.
Alison Newton added nine points and
Niki Fokken finished with eight points and nine rebounds.
The Storyline
Both Hamline and CSB are looking to overcome disappointing conference losses early in the year and get back on track. Saint Benedict is also looking for MIAC win No. 499 in program history as it is on the verge of 500 conference wins since joining the league in 1985.
About the Blazers
CSB heads into Wednesday coming off a close loss to St. Olaf Saturday. The Blazers shot 29 percent against the Oles and fell 50-47. Dittberner has been CSB's most consistent scorer as she leads the team with 11.3 points per game, and she was the only player in double digits with 13 against the Oles.
First year
Grace Wolhowe is fourth in the MIAC with a 48.3 three-point percentage, and both she and Fokken average 9.6 points per game. Fokken is 13
th in the league with 7.1 rebounds per game and
Chelsey Guetter is right behind her with 7.0 rebounds per game.
