Â
About the Cobbers:
Although the Cobbers are 0-2, both losses came by a 5-4 score on the road against No. 11 Stevens Point. One of those losses came in overtime. After finishing third in the MIAC last year, the Cobbers were picked to finish third in the conference this year. They are led by a defense which gave up less than three goals in 13 MIAC games last year.
Â
The Storyline:
How will each team respond to their respective rankings in the MIAC preseason poll? The Blazers were ranked eighth, but a victory over third-ranked Concordia could help set a winning tone for the rest of the year. The Blazers graduated Blazer-record holding goalie Jenna Trout, but the Cobbers graduated three All-MIAC players, including the reigning MIAC MVP. This could be a chance for either team to catch the other off guard while they both shake off rust from the lengthy offseason.
Â
Last Year:
Last January, the Cobbers came to St. Cloud to play two games against the Blazers. The Cobbers took control of the first match, winning by a 10-2 score. The Blazers rallied back in the second game however, tying the Cobbers 1-1. Brigette Miller had two of the Blazers three goals that weekend. Â
