After earning its third consecutive win last weekend with a 58-49 win over Carleton, the College of Saint Benedict basketball team improved its record to 7-6. This win put the Blazers above .500 for the first time since their first game of the season. The Blazers have now won four consecutive MIAC matchups and sit with a conference record of 4-2. The Blazers try to continue their surge as they head to Winona to face Saint Mary's at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14.

About the Cardinals: The Cardinals sit with an overall record of 9-4 and are even in the conference with a 3-3 record. After starting the season on an eight game winning streak, the Cardinals followed with four straight losses. From here, the Cardinals took their ninth win of the season by a score of 74-67 over Gustavus last weekend.

Who to Watch: Mattie Lueck is currently leading the offense with an average of 13 points per game. She is also leading the team in rebounds with 7.3 per game and assists with 2.7 per game. Abby Miller is also averaging 10 points per game and leads the team with a .844 free throw percentage. Emily Lueck is also sitting with 8.2 points per game and 2.3 assists per game.

The Storyline: After a slow start to their season, the Blazers head into this game with the momentum and will be looking to continue to power through conference play. They will also be looking for revenge on a team that came out on top twice last season. The Cardinals will also be looking to get their season back on track as they recently stopped a four-game losing streak.

Last Year: Last year, the two teams met twice with the Blazers coming up short in both matchups. In the first game of the year, the Cardinals walked away with a 67-64 win. The Cardinals led 36-19 at halftime, but the Blazers came back strong, although their comeback fell just short. Elena Koch led the team with six points and finished with seven rebounds. In the second half of the season, the Cardinals finished the night with an 85-73 win over the Blazers. Mattie Lueck finished this game with 21 points, five assists and four rebounds and Annie Dittberner added another 13 points.

The Blazers finished the first half with a 26-20 lead and extended their lead throughout the second half.
