Box ScoreST. PAUL, Minn. – The College of Saint Benedict volleyball team picked up its second straight sweep of a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Saturday afternoon when it defeated St. Catherine 3-0 in St. Paul, Minn.
The Blazers, who are now on a three-match winning streak, won 25-14, 25-12 and 25-20 to improve to 11-5 overall and 3-0 in the MIAC.
Bailey Rykken paced the CSB offense with 13 kills Saturday afternoon. As a team, the Blazers had 51 kills and held the Wildcats to 25. Saint Ben's finished the afternoon with a .376 attack percentage to St. Kate's .075.
Laura Schmitt added 11 kills and
Sophie Stangl finished with nine.
Taya Kockelman led the offense with 43 assists and she also had nine digs. Schmitt led the defense with 18 digs and
Victoria Nass chipped in with 16.
Alyssa Besch led St. Kate's with seven kills and Amber Zeiher finished with five. Karsee Knutson had 10 assists and Abigail Palmer finished with 16 digs. St. Kate's is now 9-10 overall and 0-3 in the league.
Saint Ben's is at home for a pair of matches this week. The Blazers host Saint Mary's at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, and Carleton College at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4. Saturday's match is Family Day in Claire Lynch.
